The Dolli – Luxury Boutique Hotel in Athens City Center

Share

Overview

Are you familiar with the concept of the Moroccan souk? The alley marketplaces specializing in various crafts or trades? Now, imagine yourself in Athens, where The Dolli now prominently stands. Here, in the heart of the Athens City Center, you’d find yourself amidst the fabric marketplace district (just take a stroll and you’ll spot numerous fabric stores in the area). This architectural gem, formerly known as the Megaro Kallimassioti, dates back to 1925 and once housed several renowned Greek fabric brands. Its design is a testament to eclecticism, seamlessly blending elements from different styles and eras. It was a mansion that was commissioned by merchant and shipowner Dimitris Kallimassiotis to architect Andreas Kriezis.

Fast-forward to 2022 and the building has been transformed into the luxury boutique hotel The Dolli, part of the Grecotel Hotel Group . Accommodations range from simple rooms to full apartments with marble bathrooms and an overall clean and luxurious eclectic aesthetic that is conducive to relaxation. Dining at The Dolli is an experience in itself, with a rooftop restaurant that offers delicious meals alongside breathtaking city views. The hotel’s central location makes it an ideal base for exploring Athens’ rich cultural heritage and vibrant city life.

Positive Aspects

Location: Guests appreciate the central location, which provides easy access to major attractions and shopping areas (Booking.com) (Tripadvisor).
Rooms: The 46 rooms range from regular-sized 25-35 sqm rooms to full 170 sqm apartments and are clean, with stylish decor, cleanliness, and so comfort. The large windows and the high ceilings are my favorite aspects of the rooms because they give off the original neoclassical vibe of the building – paired of course with the light and the airyness they provide to the space. Many rooms offer stunning views of the Acropolis, if that is an important aspect of your stay make sure you book one with a view! (Booking.com) (Tripadvisor).
Service: The service is exceptional service, with staff going above and beyond to ensure a memorable stay (Booking.com) (Tripadvisor).
Dining: The rooftop restaurant offers fusion cuisine and receives high praise for its food quality and panoramic views (Booking.com) (Tripadvisor).
Ambiance: The hotel’s design and ambiance are standout features, blending modern luxury with historic elegance along with some great art pieces.(Booking.com) (Tripadvisor).
Amenities: Of course there a luxury amenities that you would expect like a fitness center, sauna, and a highly-rated breakfast but the best feature  includes a rooftop infinity pool with a view! Imagine this at sunset sipping cocktails!!! (Booking.com) (Tripadvisor).
Experiences: A great plus is that the hotel caters to a variety of cultural experiences that will make your stay in Athens better and more organized! Have a look here  !

Areas of Improvement

Noise Levels: Rooms facing the street can be a bit noisy. (Booking.com).
Price: The hotel is on the pricier side, which might not suit all budgets (Booking.com).

Room Rates

Range: Indicative range for regular rooms €500 to €2,000+ per night, depending on room type and season.
Style: Neoclassical Luxury

Staying in the city center has of course a multitude of positive aspects seeing that everything from landmarks to food options to shopping are at your fingertips – the fact that it is the city center of course comes with the drawback of being crowded and occasionally noisy.

Overall, The Dolli offers a luxurious and memorable stay in the heart of Athens as it combines excellent service, top-notch amenities, and a prime location.
